The Confederation warns in its Reporting and Analysis Center for Information Assurance MELANI against cyber criminals.
Since Friday afternoon (13 March 2020), cyber criminals have been trying to exploit the uncertainty of the population due to the current situation surrounding the corona virus. As sender of the mails, cybercriminals use the FOPH (Federal Office of Public Health). Using fake mails and posts about the coronavirus, they try to infect devices and spread the malware (AgentTesla). By opening attachments, links or mails, the malware is installed on your PC. This allows the extortionists to gain full remote access to your computer and passwords can be read.
How you can protect yourself:
If you have accidentally clicked an attachment or a link, turn off your computer immediately. If possible, restart your computer or contact our Service Line (044 552 13 13) for assistance.
